2307PLATE 1a PC - RARE 8th MAY 1840 USAGE: A four margined 1d plate 1a PC used on EL from London to Ludlow, tied by a good red MX and margins. The EL clearly dated 8 May 1840 across join on reverse. The cover and contents are a little soiled by water but the cds is clear. Usual horizontal fold at foot well clear of the adhesive. A very scarce early date. SG £9,000.
