D Desai & Sir Eric Studd discovered that either owing to a faulty transfer or subsequent damage, the 48 impressions of the sheet had been erased and replaced by 48 impressions from the lower half of the sheet, thus stamps nos. 1 to 48 though having the correct watermark show the flaws of 49 to 96. The upper pair shows the flaws of stamps [89-90] in the lower half of the sheet but the watermark of stamps [41-42] in the upper half. This however cannot be the case, in view of the long projection of the bottom line. The stamp bears the watermark of stamp [89] but has the bottom frameline. Plus portions of the left and right frame lines are redrawn twice over. The top ornament is also crudely redrawn as is the lower label.

The Royal collection has a block of 40, another block of sixteen is in private hands and this block of eight is believed to be the next largest in private hands.
