D Desai & Sir Eric Studd discovered that either owing to a faulty transfer or subsequent damage, the 48 impressions of the sheet had been erased and replaced by 48 impressions from the lower half of the sheet, thus stamps nos. 1 to 48 though having the correct watermark show the flaws of 49 to 96.
